Pittsburgh Penguins' captain Sidney Crosby is the team's lone representative at the 2024 All-Star Game.
PITTSBURGH-- As another NHL All-Star Games arrives, the Pittsburgh Penguins are once again represented by the greatest Penguin of all-time: Sidney Crosby. With 27 goals and 50 points in 46 games, Crosby is having a historically good season at age 36. He was unsurprisingly selected to join Team MacKinnon and will look to help bring $1 million to a charity of his team's choice.
Here's what to watch for in Crosby's 10th selection in the NHL All-Star Game.
It was a given when Nathan MacKinnon was named one of the captains for this year's festivities that he would find a way to draft his buddy Crosby. He even went so far as to swing a deal with Team Hughes to ensure that Team MacKinnon could take Sid with their first pick in the draft. The pair train together in the off-season, so will that training translate into on-ice chemistry?
While Crosby will have his best buddy in MacKinnon around for this game, he will also be joining up with representatives from two of the Penguins' fiercest rivals. Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals forwards Travis Konecny and Tom Wilson are two other members of Team MacKinnon. Last season, Crosby and Ovechkin teamed up in the All-Star Game and turned heads. Perhaps this time around Crosby and Wilson can combine for a goal or two?
Team MacKinnon will face-off in the first contest of the afternoon against Team McDavid at 3:00 p.m. If they win, they will face the winner of Team Hughes vs. Team Matthews in the championship matchup.
