The Pittsburgh Penguins saw one of their top prospects finally recover from a long injury.
After missing 18 American Hockey League games with an injury, one of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ top prospects returned to the ice with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Not only did Poulin return, he scored an early goal and helped lead the Penguins to a 2-1 victory.
Poulin had spent the last few weeks rehabilitating from his undisclosed injury, which included some time in Pittsburgh with the NHL training staff.
Professional hockey hasn’t been easy for the 22-year-old; this injury kept him away from the ice for a fair amount of time after missing a lot of last year to work on his mental health.
The Penguins have high expectations for Poulin as president and general manager Kyle Dubas believes Poulin could be an NHL regular by the end of the year.
Considering the time lost, Poulin might be off course of that goal, but is still vital to the Penguins future.
Poulin’s return was his sixth game at the AHL level this year where he now has two goals and an assist.
Poulin also earned second star of the game in the WBS win.
