This Penguins prospect is heading back to the AHL.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have made a roster move, as they have announced that forward Avery Hayes has been assigned to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Hayes played in two games during his latest call-up to Pittsburgh's roster, where he scored a goal. In 13 games this season with Pittsburgh, the 5-foot-10 forward has posted three goals, 12 penalty minutes, and 16 hits.
Down in the AHL with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Hayes has certainly impressed. In 39 games with the AHL club this season, he has recorded 22 goals, 13 assists, and 35 points. With this, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton should benefit by having him back in the lineup.
Hayes will now be looking to continue to shine after being sent back to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He has 12 goals and 15 points over his last 11 AHL games.
It will be interesting to see how Hayes responds to being sent back to the AHL squad from here.
