After one game in the All-Star 3-on-3 tournament, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has been eliminated.
PITTSBURGH – For the second straight year, Sidney Crosby was the sole Pittsburgh Penguins representative at the NHL All-Star Game. Rather than the traditional Eastern Conference against Western Conference, the league brought back the All-Star Draft.
Thanks to the Draft, Crosby was able to team up with his good buddy Nathan MacKinnon on Team MacKinnon. Their first game came against Team McDavid and it turned into an entertaining battle to kick off the 3-on-3 tournament.
Team MacKinnon carried a 3-1 lead into the final minute of a two-period battle, but Team McDavid picked up two goals with the goalie pulled to knot the score at three. With a tie contest, the opening game was decided by a shootout.
Crosby failed to record a goal on his shootout attempt and Team McDavid sealed the victory with shootout goals from McDavid and David Pastrnak. Team McDavid defeated Team MacKinnon 4-3 in a shootout.
With the early loss, Crosby and Team MacKinnon are wrapped up at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game.
