Even in a Pittsburgh Penguins loss, Sidney Crosby finds a way to impress.
The Pittsburgh Penguins spotted the Washington Capitals four goals in the first period before putting together a valiant effort to get back within one.
Despite falling short, the Penguins night wasn’t totally terrible as their captain continued to pass some historical markers.
With two points in the loss, Crosby reached 1,540 in his career surpassing Joe Thornton for sole possession of 12th on the NHL’s all-time scoring list.
In his 1,226th career game, Crosby scored his 571st goal and 969th assist as he continues to climb the ranks.
Thornton reached his 1,539 points in 1,714 games with 430 goals and 1,109 assists.
At the age of 36, Crosby has had an unbelievable season scoring 21 goals and 17 assists for 38 points and at one point was one pace for over 50 total goals.
While that pace may have slipped, he is still one of the best players in the league and isn’t showing signs of slowing down.
Still rocking over a point-per-game pace, Crosby likely isn’t done surpassing some of the all-time greats on the scoring list.
Crosby now sits just 39 points back of Ray Bourque for 11th and could finish within the top 10 as Phil Esposito is 11 more points up from that.
