It’s still early in the season and there is sure to be massive swings before the playoff race heats up, but it’s good that even with a slow start the Penguins seem to be in a good place.
Ahead of the Penguins in percentage are the Carolina Hurricanes at 84.8% and the New Jersey Devils at 75.6%.
In terms of hard numbers, the Philadelphia Flyers lead the Metro with a 3-1-1 record for seven standings points, and no one is expecting them to push for the postseason.

There is a lot of hockey to be played, and the Penguins haven’t started phenomenally, but they could make a good push for the ultimate prize.
