The Karel Plasek era of the Pittsburgh Penguins only lasted a single day.

Just a day after acquiring him alongside Jack Rathbone, the Pittsburgh Penguins have placed forward Karel Plasek on unconditional waivers with the purpose of contract termination.

The Penguins nabbed Plasek and Rathbone in a deal with the Vancouver Canucks for Mark Friedman and Ty Glover.

After the trade was made official, it was announced that Rathbone would be sent to the AHL while Plasek was heading to the ECHL.

Plasek is a 23-year-old forward native to Prerov, Czechia and has only recorded eight games at the AHL level.

Obviously, Rathbone was the main piece of the trade for the Penguins, but it wasn’t expected that Plasek would be terminated this quickly.
