PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins have a long offseason, but that means numerous members of the organization can represent their countries at the IIHF World Championship. While a few players have committed to their national teams, a Penguins assistant coach will also head to Czechia for the 2024 tournament.
Penguins assistant coach Ty Hennes will join the coaching staff for Team USA. Hennes was signed on as the Penguins assistant coach for the 2022-23 season.
Prior to being promoted to assistant coach, Hennes was the Penguins lead skating and skills development coach. In his new role, Hennes has been given bigger responsibilities as a bench boss. On numerous occasions Hennes will lead the Penguins in drills during practices and morning skates.
This will be the first time Hennes will represent the United States on the national stage. Hennes will join Detroit Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde in leading Team USA.
