After missing 10 games, Jan Rutta is on the verge of returning to the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup.
Since mid-March, the Pittsburgh Penguins have been without four of their top six defenders, but as the season winds down, some are nearing a come back.
According to head coach Mike Sullivan, Jan Rutta is a game-time decision when the Penguins take on the Minnesota Wild.
Rutta has been out of the lineup since March 16, but was never removed from the active roster.
Rutta and Marcus Pettersson joined the Penguins in a morning skate, but skated as an extra defensive pairing.
Ahead of their matchup with the Wild, Rutta took part in the morning skate with a full-contact jersey.
Rutta has missed 10 games since his injury and the Penguins have picked up four wins in that time.
The Penguins are still without Pettersson and Dmitry Kulikov on their blue line, but Rutta returning is a sign of improved health for the team.
