Kris Letang left for the Pittsburgh Penguins locker room early and did not return.
Early in the trade deadline eve contest between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning, Kris Letang took a shot up high and forced him out of the first period.
The shot deflected and hit Letang in the face area and he was bloodied as he went to the Penguins locker room.
After deflecting off of Letang, the puck found its way into the net to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead.
Before the puck even hit Letang up high, he blocked a shot in the hand area that seemed to leave him in pain.
A string of unfortunate events for Letang that might leave him out of the lineup again.
Letang went to the locker room and didn’t return for the remainder of the period.
As the Penguins took the ice for the second period, Letang was not among them.
Jeff Petry took Letang’s spot on the top power play unit while the rest of the defensive lines were shuffled in his absence.
UPDATE: With a little under five minutes left in the second period, Letang came back to the Penguins bench.
