Penguins’ goalie Casey DeSmith notched another shutout, this time defeating Czechia 3-0 to advance to the tournament’s semifinals.
DeSmith stopped all 15 shots he faced for his second shutout of the tournament.
Team USA has now won eight consecutive games as they look for their first gold medal in the tournament since 1933.
Through the perfect preliminary round, Drew O’Connor scored three goals and two assists for five points.
Nick Bonino chipped in as Team USA captain with three goals and an assist for four points.
With DeSmith’s second shutout, he improves to five total wins with a .946 save percentage and 1.19 goals against average.
Team USA will take on Team Germany in a semifinal matchup on May 27.
