Veteran Penguins’ Blue Liner Skates With Canadiens

Kris Letang stayed close to home in getting a few reps in before the start of Pittsburgh Penguins training camp.

Which Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman is in danger of a surprise demotion entering training camp?

The Pittsburgh Penguins are just days away from officially opening training camp ahead of the 2023-24 season, but there is an interesting quirk to notice.

Teams around the league are getting ready as well with their own respective unofficial skates and a Penguins veteran was seen taking reps with a different team.

In photos posted to Twitter by Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette, Kris Letang can be seen participating in a captain skate with members of the Montreal Canadiens.

While Letang was wearing a majority of his Penguins gear like gloves, pants, and helmet, he also had on a red jersey to blend in with the Canadiens players.

Other images showed that the sweater had no logo on it, but it was still a strange sight to see.

In a video sent out by Cowan, Letang can be see taking small shooting drills with the Canadiens.

This seems weird and possibly even not allowed, but since the skates are informal and not official, it’s all perfectly clean.

Letang is a native of Montreal and spends a fair bit of time there during the offseasons.

With Penguins camp opening in a week, everyone can be sure they will see the Masterton Trophy winning defenseman back in Pittsburgh soon enough.
