The Pittsburgh Penguins have the best chances to make the postseason and thus lead in power rankings.
PITTSBURGH - A spot in the 2023 Playoffs isn’t guaranteed for the Pittsburgh Penguins, but they have the best chances of teams on the bubble.
Putting aside percentages from moneypuck.com, the Penguins lead in power rankings among fellow bubble teams.
There are five Eastern Conference teams that have a real chance of reaching the playoffs and it’s going to be a dog fight until the very end.
From the Buffalo Sabres, Ottawa Senators, Florida Panthers, and New York Islanders, it’s the Penguins that have the best math to reach the playoffs.
Not only do the Penguins have the best math and highest percentage, they also have the highest power ranking to make the dance.
The NHL places the Penguins at 15 for league-wide power rankings, but the top team among the bubble teams.
The Islanders follow right behind at 16; those two teams face off against one another Thursday in arguably one of the biggest games of each team’s seasons.
Everything seems to be falling in the right direction for the Penguins; their winning games, they have games in hand, and the best players are performing at the top of their game.
