The Pittsburgh Penguins might finally get their target in Erik Karlsson.

The Pittsburgh Penguins might finally get their target in Erik Karlsson.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have been hot on Erik Karlsson’s trail since the 2023 NHL Draft, and everything is closing in on final climax.

According to Elliotte Friedman, a real attempt is being made to send Karlsson to the Penguins today.

Friedman states that the Penguins, San Jose Sharks, and a third team to help with the salary cap situations will be involved.

Karlsson has four years remaining on a contract that earns him $11.5 million against the salary cap, clearly too much money for the Penguins’ to afford.

The Penguins already sit $3 million over the salary cap, but are in the final day of a second buyout window.

It’s clear Kyle Dubas wants Karlsson and some of the Penguins’ key leaders have given the green light.

The Penguins are in desperate need of a player like Karlsson to push them back over the edge and into the postseason.

Karlsson may not bring much defense, but should bring a huge push of offense to the Penguins’ blue line.
