Penguins' Tristan Jarry Says He Dealt With Injuries All Season

The Pittsburgh Penguins were never going to get the most out of Tristan Jarry in 2022-23.

Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby talks about his team's need to stay prepared despite the uncertainty surrounding their playoff chances.

2022-23 was a tough season for the Pittsburgh Penguins as a team, but even tougher for the goaltending.

Everyone is well aware that Tristan Jarry has been battling injuries for much of the season, but following the Penguins final game of the season, he indicated that they never subsided.

“I was playing through a lot, so It was tough,” Jarry said. “Tough to get practices in. Tough toget consistent game play in. Just a tough season all together for me.”

Jarry seemed to indicate that he was dealing with multiple injuries for a majority of the season, leading all the way to the final game in Columbus.

“I’m still dealing with a lot.”

Without going into details, Jarry also noted that whatever was hampering him couldn’t be fixed by just sitting out of games.

Jarry was either going to play hurt, like he did, or not play at all, but he didn’t want to sit on the sidelines.

The ailments have always followed Jarry through his career, but this year may have had a larger impact.

In a contract year, no less, the setbacks not only impacted his play, but may have impacted his next pay day.

In 47 games played, Jarry hit a 24-13-7 record with a 2.90 goals against average and .909 save percentage.

There was legitimate discussion prior to the season that Jarry could contend for a Vezina Trophy.

Injuries or not, Jarry fell far short of the expectations; much like the rest of the Penguins.

They end their season on the outside of the playoff race for the first time in 16 years and a multitude of changes are likely on the horizon.

One of those changes might happen to be who plays goal in the upcoming season.
