The Pittsburgh Penguins continue to build their new broadcast teams heading into the 2023-24 season.
When the Pittsburgh Penguins take on the Ottawa Senators in a preseason battle in Nova Scotia on October 2, it will be the official debut of SportsNet Pittsburgh.
Over the last few weeks the Penguins have been announcing changes to their broadcast team and transitions are already underway for many of the voices.
It was recently announced that Josh Getzoff will take over as the play-by-play voice on television, and now he will have multiple partners to work with all season long.
It was announced by SportsNet Pittsburgh and the Penguins that Colby Armstrong, Mike Rupp, and Phil Bourque will all rotate as color commentators.
Jay Caufield will also remain a presence on TV, continuing his role as an in-studio analyst.
Armstrong is earning an enhanced role with SportsNet Pittsburgh after serving as studio analyst since 2016.
Over the past few years, Armstrong has also worked as a studio analyst for NHL on TNT and with Sports Net Canada.
Rupp joins the Penguins broadcast team on a more common basis after joining AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh in 2017.
Since retiring from the NHL in 2014, Rupp has also done work with the NHL Network and MSG Radio Network last season.
Bouque is in an interesting boat as it was recently announced he would continue his work as color commentator for the Penguins Radio Network.
For the last 19 years, Bourque has been the Penguins radio color analyst and that will still be the bulk of his priorities.
Further additions may still be made to the Penguins broadcast staff and those announcements will come at a later date.
