The Pittsburgh Penguins return home for a showdown with the Nashville Predators.
The Pittsburgh Penguins suffered a disappointing loss against the Detroit Red Wings, but are still in control of their postseason fate. They return home for a cross-conference contest against the Nashville Predators. It's another chance to add to their wild card lead. Here's what to watch up in this edition of Pens vs. Preds.
1. Five 25-Goal Scorers
The top-six forwards of the Penguins have been amongst the best in the league all season. With Jason Zucker's 25th goal of the year, he became the fifth Penguin to record 25 or more goals, along with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jake Guentzel, and Rickard Rakell. That number of 25+ goal scorers is tied for the most in the league with the Buffalo Sabres. The offense will once again be led by these five forwards against the Predators.
2. Sidney Crosby Aging Like Fine Wine
The 35-year-old captain of the Penguins is a marvel as he continues to produce despite his age. Crosby leads the Penguins in scoring this season, with 31 goals and 85 points. With his production, Crosby has put himself in elite company. Since the 2005-06 season, he is only the sixth player to produce 80+ points at age 35 or older, joining the likes of Joe Sakic, Teemu Selanne, and Martin St. Louis. Crosby will need to continue his age-defying season against the Predators, as the Penguins continue to rely on Crosby's scoring.
3. Tristan Jarry Desperate for Win
Tristan Jarry will want to quickly move on from this season with the Penguins. Between injuries and inconsistencies, this has been one of his worst seasons since Jarry arrived in Pittsburgh. Despite a 21-10-6 record, Jarry's been on a cold streak in the month of March. He has only two wins in his last eight starts, and he hasn't played in over a week due to a lower-body injury. Jarry will be between the pipes against the Predators, and he is in desperate need of a quality start and win.
The Penguins and Predators face-off at 7:00 p.m. at PPG Paints Arena.
