The calendar has turned to September and NHL training camps are just weeks away; for the Pittsburgh Penguins, there will be plenty of roster competitions to keep an eye on.

The NHL’s Ironman is fully willing to let his games played streak come to an end if it means he gets to keep playing.
Kessel will be 36-years-old in a month, but bringing him back to Pittsburgh as a depth option/extra forward would surely make the team even more entertaining.
It’s not easy to predict what kind of season the Penguins will have this year; one thing is certain, however, is that they will be entertaining to watch.
Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Erik Karlsson are still some of the best players in the NHL, and Kessel was a fan favorite during his days in Pittsburgh.
Adding Kessel’s personality to that group would make for must watch stuff all season long.
Other big names are still floating around as free agents like Patrick Kane, Josh Bailey, and Jesse Puljujarvi.
Training camp may be on the horizon, but a few more names might find their way to Pittsburgh before things kick off.
