It's hard to imagine where the Pittsburgh Penguins would be without the dominance of Sidney Crosby.

It's hard to imagine where the Pittsburgh Penguins would be without the dominance of Sidney Crosby.

It seems as if with each passing game, the legend of Sidney Crosby grows for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In their win that snapped a five-game losing streak against the Carolina Hurricanes, Crosby was once again the most important player in a Penguins’ sweater.

Not only did Crosby break open the scoring for the game, but he was also the sole player to find the net in the 2-1 shootout victory.

In 22:37 of ice time, Crosby recorded four shots on goal, tied for most on the Penguins and continued his trend of dominance in the faceoff circle with 14 wins at the dot.

Crosby has been on a mission all season long, and it continues to be evident night after night.

On the year, Crosby has played in all 32 of the Penguins contests and scored a team-leading 19 goals with 15 assists for 34 total points.

He’s on pace for 51 goals on the season, which would tie his career high that came in 2009-10 when he was 22-years-old.

Now at 36, Crosby is still as dominant as ever and hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down.

Crosby has been held off the score sheet in just seven games this season and the Penguins hold a 1-4-2 record when that happens.

The case for another Hart Trophy as league MVP to be added to Crosby’s resume only continues to get better with each shift he takes.

By the definition of the award, ‘most valuable to his team,’ the fact the Penguins only have one win without him picking up a point should mean a ton.

When Crosby does help out in scoring, the Penguins are 14-9-1.

“He’s a great leader,” goalie Alex Nedeljkovic said. “He’s the hardest working guy on the ice every day.”

The Penguins would be heading nowhere fast if Crosby was either not around or letting age catch up to him.

But, with the bad taste of missing the postseason last year still in his mouth, he will do whatever he can to drag the Penguins back to the dance.
