The Pittsburgh Penguins are struggling and it's time for their new front office to flex their muscles and get to work.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are struggling and it's time for their new front office to flex their muscles and get to work.

The Pittsburgh Penguins may have recorded standings points in five straight games heading into their most recent contest against the Tampa Bay Lightning, but they walked out with a three-game losing streak.

Not only did the Penguins lose to the Lightning, but they got dominated and most of the lineup lacked any sort of effort or drive to find a better performance.

The Leaders like Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Jake Guentzel all gave everything they could, but no one else seemed to live up to the standard.

Bryan Rust was injured forcing the Penguins to be down a forward, but even then head coach Mike Sullivan glued players to the bench.

Jansen Harkins didn’t see a single shift in the second period and Joona Koppanen hit the ice twice for under a minute.

In the third, Harkins and Koppanen found semi-steady ice time, but it was Radim Zohorna’s turn to ride the pine for the entire period.

That goes to show just how lackluster the Penguins’ bottom six really is and it’s long overdue they get some help.

This would be a good time for Kyle Dubas to start working the phones and figure something out; the leaders are doing great but once again lack depth.

The power play is a disaster beyond words; maybe a trade or a signing doesn’t add power play punch, but it’s a part of the problem, and somewhere Dubas should look to find help.

Again, none of the Penguins current struggles lay with the core, they’ve been outstanding, even if Malkin’s production has taken a bit of a dip.

The first line of Crosby, Guentzel, and Rust is one of the best in the league and Crosby could seriously be on a record setting pace.

The goaltending has been really good as of late and also doesn’t appear to be a huge issue.

Dubas and the team know where the problems are, and they need to work quickly to try and get guys like Crosby some more help.
