The Sharks have a promising pool of young talent, with defenceman Sam Dickinson being ranked the organization's second best prospect. He was held without a point through his first nine career games, until tonight.

With just over three minutes remaining in the third period, the Sharks were down 2-1 to the Detroit Red Wings, and in need of someone to step up and tie the game.

When a battle for the puck ensued in Detroit's end, Sharks forward Patrick Giles came up with it and got it back to Will Smith. With Tyler Toffoli open on the other side of the next, Smith attempted to pass it across. However, his pass was tipped by red Wings defenceman Travis Hamonic and ended up behind the net.

Smith picked up the puck and centered it to Dickinson, who sniped it past Cam Talbot to tie the game.

Despite the momentum shifting goal, Detroit came out on top with a 3-2 victory, which was decided in a shootout.

Through his first 10 career games, Dickinson has a goal, no assists and a -4 rating, but has shown promise in his development and projects to continue to improve as the season goes on.
