Sabres Broadcaster Is Over Being 'Hertl'ed'

San Jose Sharks centerman Tomas Hertl's iconic four-goal game will not escape Buffalo Sabres broadcaster Martin Biron.

San Jose Sharks centerman Tomas Hertl's iconic four-goal game will not escape Buffalo Sabres broadcaster Martin Biron.

On Oct. 8, 2013, Hertl scored his fourth goal of the game by putting the puck between his legs and shooting it over Biron's shoulder. While this move has become more popular in the NHL today, Hertl did it in his third career game.

The San Jose Sharks lost to the Buffalo Sabres 3-0 today, but that didn't stop hockey fans from reminding Biron what happened in 2013.

Biron tells the story about why he couldn't make the stop on Hertl. Biron said that he had an issue with his skate blade that caused him to slide to his left further than he intended.

Biron spoke to The Athletic five years after the iconic goal and told about how Tomas Hertl asked for one of his sticks in 2014 when San Jose was facing the New York Rangers.

"I showed up at the morning skate, and (Acacio Marques), our equipment manager with the Rangers (asked), 'Marty, can you sign this stick?' I said, 'Sure, you got somebody that needs a stick?'" Biron recalled. "He goes, 'No, actually San Jose is in, and I had a request for one of your sticks.' And I'm like, 'Is it for (Tomas) Hertl?' And he started laughing. I'm like, that son of a gun. Not only did he pull that move, now he wants one of my sticks?"

This goal will forever connect Marty Biron, Tomas Hertl, and the San Jose Sharks. Biron is tired of the hockey world, reminding him that he was "Hertl'ed" every time the Sharks face the Sabres. It's a funny moment that Sharks fans can reminisce on during this challenging season.
