The San Jose Sharks have re-signed RFAs Jacob Peterson and Eetu Makiniemi.

The San Jose Sharks announced that they have re-signed forward Jacob Peterson and goalie Eetu Makiniemi to one-year contracts.

Makiniemi was a part of the trade that sent defenseman Brent Burns to the Carolina Hurricanes.

In two appearances in the NHL last season, Makiniemi had a .906 save %. In the AHL, Makiniemi had a .900 save % in 22 games.

"We are excited to sign Eetu," GM Mike Grier said. "He is a player who showed great promise before his injury last season. We look forward to his continued development in the upcoming year."

The San Jose Sharks also announced that they have signed Jacob Peterson to a one-year deal. One thing to note with this deal is that it's a two-way contract.

Peterson appeared in 11 games for San Jose this season and had eight points (two goals, six assists) and one game for the Dallas Stars.

Peterson scored his first goal for the Sharks on April 1 against the Arizona Coyotes. Peterson had a seven-game point streak (two goals, five assists) spanning from March 28 through April 10.

"Jacob is a smart, versatile young forward that fit in well with our group last season," Grier said. "We're looking forward to having him back and building upon that start."

Sharks head coach David Quinn talked about Peterson during his exit interview back in April.

"Peterson, from my end of it, was a pleasant surprise. He did a good job," Quinn said.
