It will be a battle between two of the NHL's best rookies on Tuesday night when Macklin Celebrini and the San Jose Sharks take on Matvei Michkov and the Philadelphia Flyers.

San Jose Sharks center Macklin Celebrini is tied for the NHL's league lead in goals by a rookie with Philadelphia Flyers winger Matvei Michkov.
Celebrini told reporters today that he's never been on a streak like San Jose's current 1-9-1 streak. Although Celebrini has had success during the streak, with four goals and eight assists, that hasn't translated to wins.
"It's a lot more fun to win and lose. You get a lot more energy when you start winning games," Celebrini said about what he's learning during this stretch. "No one likes losing. No one wants to lose. Everyone hates losing. You can have a lot more fun. You can enjoy it a lot more when you win."
Celebrini has found individual success and arguably should be the favorite for the 2025 Calder Trophy for the NHL's Rookie of the Year. When asked about what tomorrow's matchup against Michkov could be like, Celebrini didn't care for it.
"I don't really know. It's cool for the outside people [who] look at it and compare it, but I just want to stop losing," Celebrini said. "I just want to keep playing the way I'm playing. That doesn't really affect anything I do."
Celebrini has been spotted being more talkative on the bench. While it is unclear what he's saying, he's trying to urge his team forward, and head coach Ryan Warsofsky said he likes what he sees.
"For me, it's not frowned upon. I think it's good. It's good accountability with our whole group. It's not what you say; it's how you say it a lot of times. But I think it's a good thing," Warsofsky said. "We need that. We need accountability through our room, from our player to player to coaches to coaches to coaches to players and players to coaches, and that's what we're trying to build here. Mack is obviously getting more and more comfortable the more he plays, and that's what also makes him who he is. So yeah, there's a balance to it, but I think he's been fine."
Celebrini is getting more comfortable with his team, even as a rookie. He understands that there are veterans in the room, such as Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Logan Couture, whom he can lean on.
"Anytime you come into a new team, you're not going to feel comfortable right away saying stuff whenever it may be, practice, games, getting on guys. You're just not going to do that," Celebrini said. "Obviously, I've kind of got to be myself, but also look to the vets to lead us at some points. That's not going to really change who I am or how I react to things or what I say. But we also have a bunch of great vets in this locker room that can speak up and lead."
While the outside world will focus on the matchup of Macklin Celebrini vs. Matvei Michkov tomorrow night, all the San Jose Sharks rookie wants to do is win the game.
