We are just 51 days away from the San Jose Sharks kicking off their season at the SAP Center against the Vegas Golden Knights.
In honour of that, let’s take a look at the players in franchise history who have worn the number 51. Only three players have ever worn it, and the most notable is Brian Campbell, although he only had it for a single season.
The first player to wear 51 for the Sharks was the aforementioned Campbell, who suited up in the 2007-08 season. During that year, he played 20 games and scored three goals along with 16 assists for 19 points. Over the course of his NHL career, he went on to play 1,082 games and recorded 87 goals, 417 assists, and 504 points.
The next Shark to wear 51 was Radim Šimek, who played for the organization from 2018 to 2023. During that span, he appeared in 209 games and collected seven goals and 22 assists for 29 points. After his five seasons with San Jose, he left the NHL and has not returned since.
The most recent player to wear 51 is Colin Graf, who is still at the start of his NHL career. Over two seasons, he has appeared in 40 games and registered five goals and eight assists for 13 points. Graf remains a member of the Sharks and is now entering his third season with the organization.
