The San Jose Sharks are officially just 77 days away from taking the ice on opening night against the Vegas Golden Knights.

No player has ever worn the number 77 as a member of the San Jose Sharks, however a few players have worn the number for their American Hockey League affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda.

In the last half decade, three players have worn the number, starting with the man currently wearing it, Pavol Regenda. The Sharks acquired Regenda from the Anaheim Ducks in January, with forward Justin Bailey going the other way. In 36 regular season games with the Barracuda, Regenda scored nine goals and totaled 25 points. He also chipped in three goals in six playoff games.

Before Regenda wore the number, 6-foot-6 defenseman Valtteri Pulli wore it during the 2023-24 season.

Pulli played two games during the 2024-25 season as well, but then left North America to go to HC Lugano in the Swiss National League. After one season with Lugano, Pulli has signed with Djurgardens in the Swedish Hockey League for the 2025-26 season.

Latvian defenseman Karlis Cukste is the final player to have worn the number for the Barracuda in the past half decade. He played seven games in the AHL during the 2020-21 season and had a short stint in the ECHL, before returning to Latvia for the following season. He retired after the 2023-24 season.
