We are just 82 days away from the start of the San Jose Sharks season against the Vegas Golden Knights.

The number 82 has been worn by two players in the history of the organization. Interestingly enough, it hasn't been worn until the 2016-17 season.

The first player to wear it was Nikolay Goldobin, who spent two seasons with the Sharks. He was a first-round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft. Goldobin first appeared in 2015-16 and was traded to the Vancouver Canucks halfway through the 2016-17 season. During those two seasons, he scored one goal and one assist for two points in just 11 games.

The second player to wear 82 was Ivan Chekhovich, who only played four games for the Sharks and recorded one assist during the 2020-21 season. He was a seventh-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. Unfortunately, his NHL career came to an end after those four games.

When it comes to jersey number 82, Goldobin is the most recognized name, but no one has worn it for more than a single season. Regardless, we’re only 82 days out from the start of the 2025-26 NHL season.
