On Tuesday, the San Jose Sharks announced their nominee for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy, Alex Wennberg.
Wennberg and his wife Felicia are known for giving back to their community. A key example of this was back in October, when they donated 50,000 meals to Feeding America during a time when many around the United States faced food insecurity.
The King Clancy Memorial Trophy is awarded “to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community,” annually. It is named after Hockey Hall of Famer King Clancy, who spent most of his life in the NHL whether is be as a player, coach, executive or referee.
Each team will name a nominee, however it's safe to say that Wennberg seems like he'll have a good chance of winning the award this season given his contribution to his community.
