The San Jose Sharks needed to address their goaltending depth, and now General Manager Mike Grier has done just that. The Sharks have signed goaltender Eric Comrie to a two-year contract with an average annual value of $1.15 million.
Comrie, 30, spent the last two seasons with the Winnipeg Jets backing up star goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. Last season, the Edmonton, Alberta native recorded a record of 12-11-1 while posting a 3.13 goals against average and a save percentage of .890.
During the 2024-25 season, Comrie had a much better statistical season for the Jets. He had a 2.39 goals against average and a save percentage of .914 in 20 games. When training camp comes around, Comrie could theoretically challenge Alex Nedeljkovic for the backup role, assuming Yaroslav Askarov retains the starting job. With that being said, it seems as though Comrie will likely end up with the San Jose Barracuda if he's able to clear through waivers.
