The San Jose Sharks announced they have signed 2024 11th overall pick Sam Dickinson to a standard entry-level contract.

San Jose traded up from pick No. 14 to select Dickinson. Dickinson had a terrific draft year playing for the London Knights in the OHL. In 68 games, he scored 18 goals and 52 assists. After the draft, GM Mike Grier said that he feels they can unlock even more offensive potential.

"Sam is a big, mobile defenseman who brings a strong two-way game and excellent hockey IQ," Grier said in a press release. "We're excited to watch him continue his development as part of our organization."

While there isn't an expectation for him to make the jump to the NHL this season, signing his ELC allows the Sharks to have the ability to play him in preseason and regular season games, should he make the team out of training camp, before he heads back to the OHL.

Dickinson was named to the OHL's All-Rookie team for the 23-24 season and is expected to take on an even bigger role with London next season.
