It was a battle of San Jose Sharks defensive prospects on Sunday afternoon as the University of Denver faced off against Western Michigan University with a spot in the Frozen Four on the line.
Ultimately, Hobey Baker Trophy finalist Eric Pohlkamp and the Denver Pioneers picked up a convincing win over Zack Sharp and the Western Michigan Broncos.
Pohlkamp, the Sharks' fifth-round pick from the 2023 NHL Draft, picked up an assist in the opening period on Kyle Chyzowski's goal to make it a 2-0 game just five minutes in. Pohlkamp then went on to score an empty net goal, as the Pioneers were victorious with a final score of 6-2.
Western Michigan's Zack Sharp was a -4 on the night and registered four shots on goal.
Denver's next game will head to Las Vegas, Nevada for their next game against the University of Michigan in the NCAA Frozen Four Semifinal. The game is scheduled for Thurday, April 9 with puck drop to take place at 5:30 PT.
