The Colorado Avalanche have had a fantastic start to the season, as evidenced by their 21-2-6 record so far.
Former San Jose Sharks goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood has certainly played a role in the Avalanche's strong start to the campaign, as he has been excellent for the Central Division club. The truth is made abundantly clear when looking at Blackwood's stats so far this campaign.
Blackwood is simply shining for the Avalanche early on this campaign. In 10 appearances on the year with the Avalanche, the former Sharks goalie has recorded an 8-1-1 record, a 2.21 goals-average, a .920 save percentage, and two shutouts. With numbers like these, there is no question that Blackwood is playing some strong hockey so far this season.
Blackwood is only continuing to stay hot for the Avalanche as the campaign rolls on, too. During his most recent appearance against the Philadelphia Flyers on Dec. 7, he stopped 25 out of 27 shots he faced. This was after he made 27 saves on 29 shots against the New York Rangers on Dec. 6 for the Avalanche.
With all of this, Blackwood is certainly continuing to have success with the Avalanche.
In two seasons with the Sharks from 2023-24 to 2024-25, Blackwood recorded a 16-34-7 record, a .902 save percentage, and a 3.31 goals-against average.
