San Jose Sharks No. 1 pick Macklin Celebrini could be close to returning as the center skated on the top line and took contact during practice.

Celebrini has played just one game this season, opening night against the St. Louis Blues. He's been dealing with a lower-body injury, reportedly a hip injury.

In practice today, the No. 1 pick skated with Mikael Granlund and Tyler Toffoli.

Celebrini also participated in contact drills during practice, which head coach Ryan Warsofsky said needed to happen before returning to play.

There is no confirmation that Celebrini will officially return tomorrow night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, but based on his participation in practice, it is a good sign he's close.
