San Jose Sharks defenseman Mario Ferraro and forward Alexander Wennberg were among the players listed on NHL insider Chris Johnston's latest trade board for The Athletic.
Ferraro was given the No. 26 spot on Johnston's trade board. The left-shot defenseman is a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA), so he could end up being a decent trade chip for the Sharks if they decide to sell this season. This is because he is a proven top-four defenseman who plays a steady defensive game and is not afraid to throw the body.
In 34 games so far this season with the Sharks, Ferraro has posted one goal, six assists, seven points, 63 hits, and a plus-1 rating.
As for Wennberg, he was given the No. 27 spot on Johnston's list. Like Ferraro, Wennberg is another notable pending UFA on the Sharks, so it makes sense that he is being viewed as a possible trade candidate. The veteran center could generate interest from playoff teams looking for help in their top nine. This is especially so when noting that he is in the middle of a strong season with the Sharks, recording seven goals and 22 points in 34 games thus far.
