The San Jose Sharks could be quite active this summer, and while they have plenty of cap space to work with and could soon look to target some big-name free agents, it seems as though one potential target is coming off the board.
Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn is expected to re-sign with the Stars, according to a report from a trusted pundit this afternoon.
Benn, who is 35 years old, has spent his entire career with the Stars. Through 1192 career games, he has scored 399 goals and added 557 assists for 956 points, which comes out to a 0.80 points-per-game average.
As a potential veteran addition, it seems as though the Sharks will have to pivot and look elsewhere. While there was no guarantee they were gonna target Benn, they won't even have a chance to do so now, if Andy Strickland's report is accurate, and Benn isn't going to test the free agent market.
