Report: Sharks Linked To Rangers Young Defender cover image

The Sharks are being linked to this Rangers defenseman.

The San Jose Sharks recently made a big move when they acquired forward Kiefer Sherwood from the Vancouver Canucks. With it, the Sharks undoubtedly showed that they are willing to add to their roster as they look to maintain their spot in the Western Conference playoff race.

Now, after picking up Sherwood, the Sharks are being linked to an interesting young defenseman.

According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the Sharks are interested in Rangers defenseman Braden Schneider.

Hearing that the Sharks reportedly have interest in Schneider is understandable. At just 24 years old, Schneider could be a great fit on a young Sharks team on the rise. This is especially so if the change of scenery helped the former first-round pick hit a new level.

With Rangers president and general manager Chris Drury being transparent about the Blueshirts retooling, Schneider's name has been floating around the rumor mill often as of late. Thus, it makes sense that the Sharks would have him on their radar.

If the Sharks landed Schneider, he could slot very nicely in their top four. Furthermore, he would also give them another clear option for their penalty kill to work with.

In 51 games so far this season with the Rangers, Schneider has posted two goals, eight assists, and 10 points.
