According to reports, the San Jose Sharks have signed defenseman Kyle Burroughs.

First reported by Sportsnet's Elliott Friedman, the San Jose Sharks have signed defenseman Kyle Burroughs to a three-year contract.

Burroughs. 27, is a gritty defenseman who played 48 games for the Vancouver Canucks last season. Burroughs had two goals, three assists, and 62 PIMs.

The San Jose Sharks have been looking to get more competitive, and Burroughs can bring physicality to the back end.

“Kyle is a high-character, competitive player who brings several characteristics that we are looking for in a Shark,” Mike Grier said.

He also led the Canucks in fighting majors with eight. He is not the biggest player but willing to stick up for his teammates. There is some question on whether or not he can be in the lineup every day, but his competitiveness is what San Jose is looking for.

Even though he played 42 games in 2021-22 and 48 games in 22-23, he was never sent to the minors.

Burroughs can also provide a strong penalty kill as a third-pairing d-man. He is also a right-handed shooting defenseman which is not the easiest to find in the NHL.
