The San Jose Sharks attempted to get momentum in their favor early when enforcer Ryan Reaves dropped the gloves with Philadelphia Flyers forward Garrett Wilson less than two minutes into the first period.

Following the fight, Reaves could be seen looking at his hand and his knuckle specifically. He skated over to the Sharks trainer and instead of going to the penalty box to serve his five-minute major, he went down the tunnel to the Sharks' locker room.

Despite returning to the Sharks' bench for a short period of time later in the first period, he quickly returned to the locker room moments later and did not return for the remainder of the period.

The Sharks almost lost another player to injury in the first period as well. Shakir Mukhamadullin blocked a shot with his left leg which left him in clear discomfort. Despite going to the locker room himself, Mukhamadullin returned for the remainder of the period.

The Sharks also lost two players to injury in their most recent game, as Tyler Toffoli and Vincent Desharnais were out of the lineup following the Sharks' game against the Buffalo Sabres.

UPDATE 2:03 PM: Reaves returned to the Sharks' bench to start the second period.
