The San Jose Sharks have announced that they've placed defensemen Nick Leddy on the injury reverse.
Leddy was injured in the game against the New York Rangers last Thursday, and hasn't returned to the lineup since. In that time, he has missed the last three games and now will head to the IR to give him time to recover.
The Sharks have placed him on the IR retroactively to the date of the injury, which means he can return to the lineup as early as this Saturday when they play the Colorado Avalanche.
In a corresponding move, the Sharks called up forward Patrick Giles from the San Jose Barracuda.
Giles, 25, has played 17 games at the NHL level. He has played nine games with the Florida Panthers back in last season before suiting up for the Sharks for another eight games.
It is unlikely that he will draw into the lineup. However, it does give them an extra forward to carry on their roster.
The Sharks have struggled with injuries early this season. They have already been without Timothy Liljegren, John Klingberg and now Leddy within the first month of the season.
