The San Jose Sharks have once again reassigned goaltender Laurent Brossoit to their American Hockey League affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda.
Brossoit was recalled after Yaroslav Askarov suffered an injury against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday. During Askarov’s absence, Brossoit backed up Alex Nedeljkovic but did not make an appearance in a game.
Askarov will return to the lineup tonight, as he gets the start against St. Louis once again. As a result, Brossoit was sent back to the Barracuda where he’ll get considerably more playing time.
This season, Brossoit has only played in a single game at the NHL level. He allowed six goals on 23 shots when he faced the Ottawa Senators on March 15.
Since being acquired by the Sharks, Brossoit has spent the majority of his time with the Barracuda. In the AHL, he has recorded a 2.52 goals against average and a .915 save percentage in 15 appearances.
The Barracuda’s next game will take place on Tuesday when they face the Texas Stars. It is yet to be confirmed if Brossoit will start.
