Just when it seemed the San Jose Sharks were going to have their young goaltender Yaroslav Askarov back in the lineup to finish the season, things fell apart once again. As a result, the Sharks have been forced to recall Laurent Brossoit from the San Jose Barracuda just a few days after re-assigning him to the American Hockey League.

Askarov was injured in the second period of Thursday night's game against the St. Louis Blues. Defenseman Vincent Desharnais shoved Blues forward Nathan Walker into Askarov, causing the Sharks netminder to leave the game.

Although Askarov participated in practice on Friday, it appears that he'll miss at least one game since the Sharks opted to recall Brossoit.

Since being sent back to the Barracuda, Brossoit appeared in one game against the Texas Stars. He saved 31 of 34 shots in a 3-2 loss.
