With the 2nd pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, the San Jose Sharks have selected Michael Misa from the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
Team: Saginaw Spirit
2024–25 Stats: 62 G, 72 A, 134 P
DOB: Feb. 16, 2007
Position: Center/Left Wing
Shoots: Left
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 185 pounds
My scouting report from Misa's draft target:
"Michael Misa could be pound-for-pound the most talented player in the entire 2025 NHL Draft. After being granted exceptional status back in 2022, he’s lived up to the hype. This past season with the Saginaw Spirit, he put up monster numbers—62 goals and 72 assists for 134 points in 65 games, finishing 10 points ahead of the next closest scorer in the OHL.
Whether it’s his shot, vision, skating, awareness, or hockey IQ, Misa checks every box. One of the most intriguing parts of his game is his versatility—he’s played both center and wing. He came up as a natural center, shifted to wing for a bit, and then returned to the middle this season—and dominated.
Defensively, Misa holds his own too. His awareness without the puck really stands out. He tracks back hard, breaks up plays, and uses his speed to get into position and force turnovers.
For the San Jose Sharks, Misa would be a great fit with their young core. If he sticks at center in the NHL, he’d likely slot in as the second-line pivot behind Macklin Celebrini for years to come."
San Jose Sharks' 2025 Draft Target: Michael Misa
The 2025 NHL Draft is only 21 days away and the San Jose Sharks have some big decisions. There have been some reports suggesting that the Sharks are looking for wants to try and move up to #1 in the draft. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear likely, so now they will need to shift their focus to who they will take at #2 in the Draft.
