The Sharks have made a trade.

The San Jose Sharks have announced that they have acquired defenseman Nolan Allan, goalie Laurent Brossoit, and a 2028 seventh-round pick from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Jake Furlong, a 2028 fourth-round pick, and Ryan Ellis's contract.

With this move, the Sharks have added a former first-round pick in Allan and a veteran goalie in Brossoit as they look to stay in the playoff race.

Allan was selected by the Blackhawks with the 32nd overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-2 left-shot defenseman played in his first 43 career NHL games this past season with the Blackhawks, where he recorded one goal, eight points, 48 blocks, and 61 hits.

Allan spent all of this in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs before being traded to the Sharks, though. In 29 games with Rockford before the move, he had two goals and six points.

Brossoit, on the other hand, had a 3-3-0 record and a .901 save percentage in six games this season for the IceHogs before this trade to the Sharks. This was after he missed the entirety of the 2024-25 season due to injury.

In 140 career NHL games, Brossoit has recorded a 64-46-13 record, a .911 save percentage, and a 2.64 goals-against average. His most recent NHL season was in 2023-24 with the Winnipeg Jets, where he had a 15-5-2 record, a .927 save percentage, and a 2.00 goals-against average.
