The San Jose Sharks have made a notable move, as they have acquired forward Kiefer Sherwood from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for defenseman Cole Clayton, a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2027 second-round pick.
Sherwood was one of the top trade candidates on the market, and several teams were interested in him. Yet, the Sharks have now won the sweepstakes for his services.
Sherwood appeared in 44 games this season with the Canucks before this trade, where he had 17 goals, 23 points, and 210 hits. With numbers like these, he should give the Canucks solid secondary scoring and plenty of grit as they look to remain in the playoff race.
Sherwood should now give the Sharks' top nine a strong boost after being traded there. Furthermore, due to his solid two-way play, he will give the Sharks another option to work with on their penalty kill.
