After 10 months, the San Jose Sharks have filled the hole left by Ryane Clowe suddenly opting to depart the organization in order to take the same role with the New York Rangers.

On Friday morning, the Sharks announced the hiring of veteran executive Jeff Kealty as an assistant general manager.

Kealty spent a quarter of a century with the Nashville Predators organization, initially starting as an amateur scout. He then earned a promotion to Director of Amateur Scouting and ultimately was named an assistant general manager and the overall Director of Scouting just under a decade ago.

Kealty joins Tom Holy and Joe Will on Mike Grier’s staff, filling what is likely the final assistant general manager job.

Given Kealty’s scouting background, he’ll undoubtedly bring a lot to the table in regards to player evaluation and development. Per the team, he’s going to oversee the Sharks’ professional scouting staff and will assist Grier in all aspects of hockey operations.

“Jeff brings a wealth of professional experience to our club, and he will be a valuable addition to our hockey operations staff,”  Grier said in a press release. “His knowledge and expertise of the game is represented in his achievement with Team USA, helping the program win a Gold Medal in 2025, along with elevating the Nashville Predators with various high-end player additions over the previous two decades, both in the NHL and in their prospect system.”
