The San Jose Sharks continue to be decimated by injuries. Jacob MacDonald was placed on IR today with a lower-body injury.
This will be MacDonald's third stint on IR this season. Per Sheng Peng of SJHN, Sharks head coach David Quinn said this injury is a day-to-day situation.
MacDonald has six goals and one assist in 17 games this season. He has played mainly as a forward but has been a defenseman multiple times.
The team also announced that goaltender Magnus Chrona has filled the roster spot left open by MacDonald. SJHN reports that Blackwood didn't skate this morning and that Mackenzie Blackwood is under the weather.
Team goaltending coach Thomas Speer put on the pads this morning and helped with the morning skate.
Alexander Barabanov is returning to the San Jose Sharks lineup after being out with an illness. Calen Addison didn't participate in 5-on-5 line rushes but was on the top powerplay unit, suggesting he is returning from a three-game absence.
Logan Couture and Ryan Carpenter did not travel on their two-game road trip with the team. Both players have been skating with the team in practice at home.
Nico Sturm remains out of the lineup and hasn't rejoined practice since his injury. He has been skating on his own.
San Jose leads the NHL in man-games lost with 168.
San Jose takes on the Stanley Cup contending Los Angeles Kings tonight and must be at their best to have a chance at ending its five-game losing streak.
