The San Jose Sharks had five players at the 2024 World Junior Summer Showcase, but Team USA's Brandon Svoboda opened some eyes with his stellar play.

Svoboda was a third-round pick by San Jose in 2023 and has done nothing but improve his prospect status since then. He won the Clark Cup in the USHL with the Fargo Force. He put up four goals in nine playoff games.

In the tournament, Svoboda showcased his elite shooting ability and scored six points in five games for Team USA. In yesterday's matchup, he scored the opening goal for Team USA against Team Canada.

At 6'3, 207 lbs, the winger has an elite skill to get to challenging areas in front of the net to score goals. Given what the Sharks drafted ahead of him, he has flown under the radar as a prospect.

Svoboda will join Macklin Celebrini's alma mater, Boston University, next season. His play at this season's WJSS has seemingly earned him an upper hand in a bottom-six role for Team USA at the 2025 World Junior Hockey Championship.

"With his first-period goal, Svoboda is up to six points in five games as he looks to secure a bottom-six spot with the Americans. His energy and drive to do whatever it takes to generate a scoring chance has been noticeable, and he never left anything on the line. Like Spellacy, this tournament did a lot to help his stock heading into December's selection camp," Daily Faceoff's Steven Ellis wrote.

Fellow Sharks prospect Quentin Musty will likely join Svoboda at this year's World Juniors, as both players had a strong showcase.

The Sharks have a bright future, and their prospect pool will only get bigger. Despite their offseason improvements, the Sharks are not expected to have a playoff-caliber season.
