Highly touted San Jose Sharks prospect Igor Chernyshov is heading back to the NHL.

On Thursday morning, the Sharks announced that they've recalled Chernyshov from their American Hockey League affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda. The 20-year-old winger previously spent some time in the NHL during December and January. During that time, he scored three goals and totaled 11 points in 15 games.

The Russian forward has certainly thrived in his first full professional season, as he's been very productive at the AHL level as well. With John McCarthy's team, he's played in 41 games, scored 13 goals and tallied a total of 33 points.

Chernyshov was the Sharks' second round draft pick, 33rd overall, in the 2024 NHL Draft. Following the Draft, he immediately made the jump to North America where he dominated in the Ontario Hockey League with the Saginaw Spirit before joining the Barracuda at the end of the season.

Chernyshov is not expected to play tonight in Boston as the Barracuda played at home last night and he'll have to meet up with the team before he can draw into the lineup.
