Sharks Send Soaring Prospect To AHL cover image

This Sharks prospect is heading back to the AHL.

The San Jose Sharks have made a roster move, as they have announced that they have assigned forward Igor Chernyshov to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda.

Chernyshov has played in his first 15 career NHL games this season and undoubtedly showed off his potential during them. The 20-year-old forward has recorded three goals, eight assists, and 11 points this season so far with the Sharks, so he certainly has put up some solid offensive numbers to kick off his NHL career. Yet, with this latest roster move, the Sharks prospect will now be heading back to the Barracuda's roster.

The Barracuda will be happy to have Chernyshov back on their roster, as he has been excellent for the AHL squad this campaign. In 25 games with the Barracuda so far this season, he has posted 11 goals, 12 assists, 23 points, and a plus-5 rating.

With how well Chernyshov has played this season, it should not take him too much time to get another chance on the Sharks' roster. It will be fascinating to see how the young forward performs from here.
