Vancouver Canucks forward Lukas Reichel has hit the waiver wire, and the San Jose Sharks should consider claiming him.

An interesting player was placed on waivers on Dec. 13, as Vancouver Canucks forward Lukas Reichel has hit the wire. While Reichel has had trouble breaking out in the NHL, him being a former first-round pick and still young could very well lead to another club claiming him.

With the San Jose Sharks being a young team on the rise, they should seriously consider putting a claim in for Reichel. It would come with zero risk, and the 23-year-old forward could still very well have the potential to hit a new level. Perhaps joining the Sharks could help him do just that.

In 19 games this season split between the Chicago Blackhawks and Canucks, Reichel has recorded two goals, three assists, and five points. He notably has struggled since being traded to Vancouver, however, recording just one assist in 14 games. The fit has simply not been there in Vancouver, but a change of scenery on a team like San Jose could benefit him.

Ultimately, there would be no harm in the Sharks bringing in Reichel through a waiver claim. At 23 years old, he could fit in nicely on their roster, but especially if he tapped into his potential a bit more. He also previously showed some offensive upside with Chicago, posting seven goals and 15 points in just 23 games during the 2022-23 season.
